A brilliant hummingbird moves across a sunlit desert sky, drawn toward the colorful blooms of a sprawling prickly pear cactus below. Created with a combination of seed beads, elongated glass beads, stones, and specialty shapes, this piece explores texture as much as imagery. Layers of deep green beads give the cactus its dense, tactile surface, while jewel-like stones form the buds and blossoms scattered across its pads. The hummingbird’s wings and feathers are carefully directional, giving the small bird an unmistakable sense of movement. The painted background shifts from cool blue to warm yellow, suggesting the glow of desert light and providing a soft contrast to the highly dimensional mosaic surface. Together, the two works celebrate the unexpected beauty of the desert and one of its most captivating visitors—tiny, energetic, and seemingly impossible to catch still. *price includes domestic shipping*
